Description
Murphy is a 7.5 year old (8 in march) collie, he is neutered and was bred from 2 working line parents .
He is the most loving dog, he loves to cwtch and will try and push others out of the bed so he can cuddle next to you. Murphy absolutely loves to wear themed jumpers and bandannas every halloween and ******************!
He is a very much loved dog by all of my family.
However, Murphy is reactive to other dogs. He can live with other dogs if introduced properly and he currently lives with 3 others. I air on the side of caution and always supervise as he can have the off reactive moment with dogs hes bonded with. On walk he now ignored other dogs or drops to the ground until they pass.
He is muzzle trained, but will occasionally try to get it off when sat for too long (he cant ).
Murphy is better with women due to his past (this can be explained). But he does bond well with men after he builds a bit of trust and he absolutely adores my brothers, my uncle and my partner.
I would want an adult only home or a home with older teens who can respect his space, he doesn't like young children due to shouting, them running around, etc as it works him up and he will nip/bite at them.
He is crate trained due to when I have my nieces/nephews over he is crated for this reason.
Murphy does resource guard dye to his past (again can be explaiend). He is fine with people feeding him but other animals he will attack if they go near him so he eats in his crate in a separate room.
Murphy does have a flea allergy and mild hay-fever if he rolls around in fresh cut grass his eyes get weepy.
I cant stress how much Murphy is a loved dog but he currently has 2 bites on record. One 4 years ago when he reacted to a stressful situation and one recent which I cannot explain why. I am happy to go over these with the right person
Murphy requires someone confident, who has a knowledge of working collies and can provide him with a home where his boundaries can be respected as well as having his own space.
Murphy used to be an off lead dog and has great recall. His reactivity started around 5 years ago following a house move so I have learnt a lot and adapted to be able to provide him what he needs. I worey I can no longer keep him or others safe and I dont want to see him put down.
Wherever he goes I would like to get updates as this has been the hardest decision for me to make. I just want to know hes doing well and is loved.
