Description
African Pygmy Dormice babies ready now! Dark grey/brown available.
Dark grey/brown (normals), grey and white tipped tail pieds.
These are fun, sociable little creatures that like to be kept in pairs or groups.
They're quiet, nocturnal rodents that live 4-6 years.
They're cute little pets that are happy to be handled as long as you handle them regularly. I handle them often from 2 weeks old to get them used to human hands.
Although I try my best to sex them, they are difficult to sex until reaching sexual maturity around 5 months old. With this in mind, I can't 100% guarantee the sex of the young ones.
Housing - They need to be housed in a vivarium, plastic or glass tank of 45x45x60cm upwards.
They do not need a heat mat as long as they are in a warm room about 21 degrees. They need lots of opportunities to climb and hide. (See my examples)
Feeding- The APDs need a varied diet of nuts, seeds, fruit and insects. Provide fresh fruit daily (grapes, blueberries, apple, banana) and just avoid citrus.
They will eat cheese, eggs, chicken and I recommend a cuttle fish as a source of calcium.
