Description
After a huge amount of thought, I’ve made the incredibly difficult decision to find my Belgian Malinois, Skye, the right forever home.
This is honestly one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make because I absolutely adore her. She deserves someone who can give her the lifestyle and purpose that I now realise I simply can’t.
Over the last 10 months we’ve invested heavily in her training, attending around 20 professional sessions, and I’ve done everything I possibly can to become the handler she needs. Unfortunately, I’ve had to accept that Skye is simply too much dog for my level of experience. Rather than keeping her in a situation where she isn’t able to reach her full potential, I believe the fairest and most responsible thing I can do is find her someone who can.
Skye is a young Belgian Malinois with a fantastic temperament. She is very social with both people and other dogs, environmentally stable and has exceptional ball drive. She absolutely loves to work and already has a solid foundation in obedience, along with introductory personal protection training. For someone experienced with working breeds, she has all the ingredients to become an outstanding dog.
She isn’t aggressive, reactive or nervous. She is simply a high-drive working Malinois that needs an experienced handler, clear structure and a job to do.
At home she does need managing. If left with too much freedom she can become destructive, so she would suit someone who understands how to manage working dogs properly, whether that’s within the home or with kennel facilities. She wouldn’t be my first choice for a home with young children purely because of her drive and energy levels.
I’m in no rush to let her go, and I won’t sell her to just anyone. Finding the right home is far more important to me than making a quick sale. If you don’t have experience with Belgian Malinois or similar working breeds, she probably isn’t the right dog for you.
If, however, you’re looking for a young dog with excellent foundations, lots of drive and huge potential, I genuinely believe Skye could be something very special in the right hands.
Price: £1,000
The price reflects the training and time already invested in her, but more importantly, I’m looking for a committed, knowledgeable home where she’ll be loved, understood and given the life she deserves.
If you think you could offer Skye that home, I’d love to hear from you.
