Description

Lovely affectionate boy. He has not been neutered. Was good with our cat when we had a cat and gets on well with our other dogs. Would love to keep him but he is not settling well around our livestock, so would be more suitable for a home with no livestock. Loves to be around his people. He has good recall and walks well on the lead. Will need an owner who is firm but kind/calm to continue maintaining/further improve his training. Preferably experience with the breed. Unwanted behaviours are mild and minimal, so not too much work required. Gets on best with female dogs or dogs similar size to him. Is friendly with other dogs but does not like being pestered by other dogs so gets on best if they aren’t too pushy with him Took him with the other dogs to a private hire dog play park recently that had agility course. He was running the ramps etc like he’s had previous training and seemed to know what he was doing on them. I was doing some training with one of the others and he jumped on. High prey drive so would be better in a home with no small animals. Not suitable around livestock. Prefers not to be left alone but can be left ok for short periods with tasty long lasting chew. Good with the kids, including the little ones but obviously should not be left unsupervised with them. He gets uncomfortable if pestered so he needs reassurance so he knows it’s ok. He is toilet trained and will let you know when he wants to go out but will have accident if not let out quick enough after he’s said he needs to go out He was around 2 years old when we got him. We were told he was wary of men (that he doesn’t know), he has improved with this but can still be unsure. He mildly resource guards with food but I have worked on this and he has improved. I did a lot of lead work but still needs reminding sometimes. Occasionally he might bark at other dogs on walks but not worked out what triggers this, he has always been great in our local area (beach/woodland walks etc), seems to be in unfamiliar, busy areas that he does this or if around reactive dogs. He is very calm around the house and usually calm on walks too but may need to get used to new area. He seems to work harder for praise more than food rewards
