Description
Loki is literally our bear; a big boy at 47kg, but is a very relaxed long-haired Akita with a general laid back energy with the family. Loki has been up for adoption since Aug 2025, but we have not been able to identify the correct new owners. Due our current living arrangements and as well as several unanticipated life changes, we are making an incredibly tough and emotional decision to find Loki a new home, as he needs an owner(s) that will continue to provide a good life as a loved pet. Our current environment is not ideal for Loki, and we are already struggling maintain his quality of life and give him the attention he needs, Until recently, Loki was living in a household consisting of 5 adults and an infant, so he a very familiar being around people. He very well house trained; will not jump or sit on furniture, will not go upstairs, and only does his toilet break outside during his walks. In fact, he spends most of his time outdoors. We have had Loki since he was 10 weeks old; he is a handsome and very independent dog, often enjoying his own company for parts of the day. He does love attention, and is very friendly with visitors at home, but as with most Akitas, it is his on his terms. On walks, he tends to have a happy-go-lucky energy, but he is wary of strangers, so you have to remain in control of his interactions. He is fine with female dogs, but not a fan of other male dogs. Additionally, I would not recommend Loki living with cats. People are often surprised at Loki’s nonchalant demeanor - it's safe to say he is aloof by nature. There are no ongoing medical conditions, but Loki did undergo TPLO on his right hind leg in 2022 due to cranial cruciate ligament rupture. There were and have been no concerns upon his recovery, but you may notice after long periods of sitting and/or napping, he’ll have a light limp for a minute or so. Loki may look like a cuddly bear, but he is an Akita, so before showing your interest, please be ensure you understand the breed. PLEASE NOTE, I will not give up Loki if you do not have adequate outdoor space, and will need to meet any potential new owner to meet Loki
