Description
Loving home wanted for our beautiful miniature dachshund, Alfie.
We are sadly looking for a very special, loving home for our 3-year-old miniature dachshund, Alfie. We are also considering rehoming his 2-year-old female companion Bella, as they are incredibly bonded and we would ideally like them to stay together if possible.
Alfie is a loving, affectionate and very special boy who is hugely loved by our whole family. Unfortunately, he struggles with anxiety, particularly with the outside world, and this can show itself through excessive barking and difficulty coping with new people, and walks.
We have tried our best to help him (sprays, treats, plug ins), but with two young children and a very busy family life, we have reached the heartbreaking realisation that we cannot give Alfie the amount of time, patience and one-to-one training he needs to build his confidence.
This is absolutely not because we don’t love him. In fact, it is because we love him so much that we want to find him a home where someone has the time and patience to really work with him and help him feel safe and confident.
We are looking for someone who:
🐾 Has plenty of time and patience
🐾 Understands that Alfie is an anxious dog and is willing to work at his pace
🐾 Ideally has experience with anxious or nervous dogs
🐾 Can provide a calm, stable environment
🐾 Is committed to positive, patient training rather than expecting an instant change
🐾 Understands that he may need time to settle and build trust
Alfie has so many wonderful qualities and is a very loving boy. We believe that with the right environment and someone who can give him the time and individual attention he needs, he has the potential to become a much happier and more confident dog.
We are not looking for the quickest or easiest option. We will take our time finding the right person and would much rather say no than let him go somewhere that isn’t right for him.
Because Alfie and Bella are so bonded, we would be happier if they could find a home together. However, their welfare will come first and we will make the decision based on what is best for them.
This is heartbreaking for us and we are genuinely devastated to be considering it. They are both deeply loved members of our family, and this decision has not been made lightly.
Please only get in touch if you genuinely have the time, patience and experience to give Alfie the life he deserves. We would be happy to answer any questions honestly and have a long conversation with anyone who may be the right fit. We are also happy for visits.
