Description

This advert is for six nymphs of the stunning Emerald Roach, Pseudoglomeris magnifica. Nymphs will have gone through their first moult, at least, and will have been well/started on a mixture of fruit, beetle jelly pots, organic pollen, lichen, fish pellets (Fluval Bug Bites are a favourite) and a commercial Roach diet. This is a very slow-growing species, with males and females of the same generation maturing at very different rates. Females are also slow to reproduce and give birth to very small clutches, initially. Because of this, establishing a culture can take years, during which there is always a risk of culture failure. By providing nymphs of different ages, there is a greater chance of the sexes maturing within the same time frame and reproducing successfully. This species requires temps of 22-26C, high ventilation with areas of moderate humidity and must be kept in an escape-proof enclosure. These are surprisingly adept at squeezing through tiny gaps, so fairly extreme measures must be taken to keep them safe. They are also arboreal, so need height and climbing opportunities. Cork bark resting against the enclosure sides is very popular. Please get in touch for more info!
