Description
With very heavy hearts we are exploring the possibility of finding a new home for our two beautiful long-haired Chihuahua boys, Merlin and Percy.
We have had them both since they were puppies. Merlin (ginger and white) is nearly 3 years old and Percy is just over 2 years old. As young adults they are at a lovely age and can adapt well to the right home.
Due to a change in our family circumstances — we have a 19-month-old toddler and a newborn due in August — the noise and unpredictability of very young children has started to make the boys anxious. When babies cry Merlin can howl, which then sets Percy off too. They do settle and are not aggressive towards children, but we feel they may be happier in a calmer home where they can relax and enjoy more attention.
With the demands of motherhood I’m also finding it harder to give them the time they deserve for regular toilet breaks, walks, stimulation and affection.
About the boys
Merlin is confident and full of personality. He loves attention and enjoys meeting people. As a puppy he had a health issue that was successfully resolved with surgery, but he can sometimes be sensitive if touched around that area or if startled. With calm reassurance and treats he settles quickly.
Percy is quieter and very gentle. He loves cuddles and sofa time and is a very affectionate, easygoing little companion.
They both love being close to their people, make great little watchdogs and have lovely funny personalities.

The home we are looking for
Ideally someone experienced with Chihuahuas who truly understands and loves the breed. A calm home with secure outdoor space would be ideal. We feel they would suit an adult home or one with older, sensible children.
They are not to be used for breeding or stud purposes.
Please note rehoming is not definite — we would only consider letting them go if we found the perfect home with someone who genuinely loves the breed and can give them the time, care and attention they deserve.
We would also consider a temporary home for 1–2 years while our children are very young.
