Description

Toby 🐾 Toby is a 5 year old Collie x (Kelpie?) Unfortunately he has been subject to a divorce and neither party are in a position to keep caring for him. He’s currently staying with mum however he’s left for long hours and is experiencing a psychological downfall and chewing at his own leg due to his needs not being fulfilled, he’s currently on Gabapentin for the anxiety but if you know collies they need stimulation, once he is being walked and cared for to his needs he will be able to come off the meds and stop chewing at his leg. Our assessor stated after a walk that Toby was a completely different dog once he was able to release some energy the anxiety vanished and he was able to relax so this proves our theory. So with that said here’s a run down on Toby 😊 Toby is a bright boy, he likes bringing you his toys, he’s eager to engage with people although wary at first and can bark at strangers coming into the house but quickly settles when you fuss him. He doesn’t like other dogs, he’s had positive interactions in the past with family dogs but is fear reactive we think muzzled introductions with another placid dog and some training will show him dogs are not a threat🥺 Toby currently lives with a cat, surprising given his breed he’s very fond of them although they’re not so willing to play with him🫣 Children, We think older children only would be better for Toby he’s a dog that experiences stress at higher levels and a new environment with young children who misunderstand cues of a stressed dog will cause an incident we would like to avoid, saying that he does live with a child between younger than 10 at present. Toby just needs love “in the right home he will flourish, patience and understanding that’s all he needs” Toby has a full medical history, Microchip and Vaccines he’s not currently neutered but will require a vets assessment for the psychological factors of having him neutered if that’s something an adopter wishes to do, we would recommend having him done as soon as possible to help him calm down once settled but only if a vet says it’s safe to do so as we are aware it can also have adverse reactions on some anxious dogs 💜 To apply for Toby please click this link: https://form.jotform.com/262344751868063 For any questions please just send us a PM 🐾
