Description
Ethel is our beautiful American cocker spaniel girl. Very hard to come by in the Uk due to a very few numbers of litters available each year from breeders. The breeder travelled to Lithuania to use a stud for this litter. Very well bred, photo included.
I had waited for a breeder to sell me one suitable to breed from for over a decade but sadly due to my second child heading of to university and all the expenses this will cost us, I have had to go back to work. Although my older girls have settled in to the new routine well, some of the dogs have more needs than the others and to keep them is not fair on them, just so I can continue doing what I love. I have of course spoken to her breeder about the situation and she would normally of taken her back in an instance, but is about to be off her feet for several months, so this will not help Ethel with her training at all.
So little Ethel, a long time dream, I am going to have to let go of. This is such a shame as the American spaniel is such an amazing little dog, I really wanted to introduce them to our area and get more people knowing about them. She is at a stage in her life where she needs more than I am giving her. She needs to get into puppy and socialising classes which I sadly can not do due to my shift rotas changing on a weekly basis. She loves her cuddles and attention but is still work in progress. Out walking her recall is great, she is a bit barky at other dogs on the lead but fine off the lead. But I do believe this will improve once back in a routine and getting out daily again. She is still young so work in progress, but if you are looking for a young dog but don't want the biting, pooping stage or have an older dog who would love a friend but not a puppy that will hang of their ears - she may be the one for you.
Very good for the groomer, toilet trained ( dog flap ) . She is a big character . Ideally would like to go to a home with another dog as she has always lived this way although I am sure if you are at home/retired and put the time into training her she would in time be fine on her own. But may need to be someone who will let her sleep by your bed until this has happened.
This has not been an easy decision but sometimes the hardest decisions aren't.
