Description
14 month old Cavachon (cavalier x bichon but looks more cavalier). Had him for three weeks but my old dog is struggling to tolerate him. He is microchipped and up to date with vaccinations (booster due next month).
Positives:
Very food motivated and no intolerances.
Smart.
Loving, soppy boy.
Good with other dogs, loves to play with my younger dog and has met other dogs out on walks and not phased.
Active but settles to sleep next to you after a walk and likes to be close to his humans.
Fully toilet trained- had two accidents when he first arrived whilst he got his barings.
Recall good- checks in on you regularly and comes when called for a treat. We have only let him off so far when no distractions around.
Things to work on:
He arrived very skinny, we have changed his food and been feeding him up.
He is nervous of the outside world- I don’t think he has had much socialisation. He is now absolutely loving his walks! We have taken him to some obedience classes.
He is very nervous of strangers and will bark when they enter the house, this is out of fear. Anyone who takes him will need to understand that when you visit him he will bark at you and won’t come to you. You will either need to visit a handful of times or if you take him be prepared that he will need a few days to get to know you. Homes will be vetted- we want this is be his last move.
Looking for someone who likes to be active, he needs an hour or more of walking a day and/or some mental stimulation- he’s been enjoying sniffing out treats in toys etc. He needs someone who understands that’s he’s nervous and willing to work on the ‘stranger danger’ and socialisation.
