Description

Luna is a beautiful blue merle Border Collie who is 6 years old. She is a fun, energetic and extremely clever girl who has been a much-loved part of our family. She is incredibly intelligent and knows multiple tricks. She also took part in dog agility competitions for a while, which she absolutely loved. She thrives when she has something to keep her mind and body occupied and would really benefit from an active home with someone who has the time to give her plenty of exercise, stimulation and attention. Luna’s basic training and obedience are excellent. Her recall is superb and she can happily walk off lead and will come straight back when called. She walks beautifully to heel and is excellent with commands such as sit and stay. The main reason we are looking to rehome Luna is that she has become reactive towards other dogs. She doesn’t go looking for fights and generally has no issues when other dogs are kept at a respectful distance and on their lead. Unfortunately, if another dog approaches her, particularly if it comes up behind her to sniff her, she can suddenly react and go for the other dog. For this reason, we keep her on the lead when passing other dogs. Most responsible owners who put their dogs on a lead or keep them under control cause no problems at all, but occasionally people don’t recall their dogs or allow them to approach despite being asked not to, and this can result in a confrontation. We know this is something that could potentially be worked on with the right time, patience and training, but with three young children and the demands of family life, we simply aren’t able to give Luna the one-to-one attention and consistency she needs. This has been a very difficult decision for us, and we are not looking to rehome her because we don’t love her. We genuinely want to find the right home where someone has the time and experience to help her and give her the best chance of being happy. We will be completely honest with any potential new owner about Luna’s temperament and behaviour, as finding the right home for her is far more important to us than finding a home quickly. We’d love to hear from someone who has the time, patience and commitment to give Luna the life she deserves.
