Description
With a very heavy heart I am rehoming my incredible budgie bud. I adopted him from a neighbour who worked too many hours to take care of him and bud was getting lonely after his friend died. Sadly after much training I have realised that its just not feasable for him to live in the same flat as my dog.
He will come with a cage, toys, seeds, pellets, dried fruit, a mist sprayer, bird greens, natural wooden perches (better for their feet than the generic thin perches), a budgie playground, UVB light which is a must for birds and food bowls.
- keep him above 15°c (dangerous below for budgies)
- use the UVB light for at least a few hours a day (vital for mental and physical health)
- keep the area humid (vital for birds respiratory systems)
- feed him a mixed diet of fresh fruit and veg (he loves orange, green beans, beetroot and coriander)
- feed him a mix of seeds and pellets as I still had not gotten him to convert to just pellets yet - may be best to get the even smaller size of topps pellets
- he loves millet but is only allowed it as a training treat!
- keep his cage away away from open windows, drafts, kitchen, incense, perfume, harsh cleaning products
- his cage is mainly a place to sleep, drink and eat, he must be out of his cage for most of the day and when he needs to sleep he is usually very good about getting back in and judt cover with a blanket so he can rest
- for the first week or so may be best not to let him out so he can adjust
- will not be rehoming him to a home with a dog or cat
- unfortunately never got him to the vets as I was training him to be happy around people and still have not trained him to be ok with me extending his wing for check up + no travel cage
He is an incredibly confident and curious budgie, I have taught him step up and he is very comfortable landing on people but may need to be taught some boundary commands as he has nibbled at my fingers and eyebrow before!
I would love for him to go to a bird knowledgable home who already take good care of budgies - he needs a friend!
