Description
Mochi is a 13‑month‑old Syrian hamster who has made a fantastic transformation during her time in rescue. She arrived very shy and scared, hiding away whenever we entered the room. But she didn't pretend to be shy for long.
Within just a few days, Mochi was taking treats from our fingers, and after a week she was waking back up in the morning to come out for a treat. She is wonderfully food‑motivated - always a bonus with a hamster - and her enthusiasm for snacks has helped her confidence grow.
Mochi is a typical active female Syrian who loves redecorating her enclosure overnight. Every morning we’re greeted with her latest interior‑design choices, and it never fails to make us smile. She’s also a dedicated marathon runner, happily ticking away on her wheel each night with the sweetest little tick‑tick‑tick of tiny feet.
She’s making lovely progress with handling. Mochi has begun allowing gentle pets, and we’re now working on helping her feel confident enough to take treats from the palm of our hands. She’s a sweet‑natured, gentle girl who is learning that humans can be trusted.
Mochi does have a history of chewing, so she will need a barless enclosure that meets the minimum welfare standard of 100cm x 50cm x 50cm, along with plenty of enrichment to support her busy, curious nature. She’s easy to transfer using a jug or tunnel. And with her sociable nature, she may just become a cuddly wee thing.
Mochi is going to make a lovely companion for an adopter who appreciates a gentle soul with a blossoming personality and a big love of treats.
