Description

Advertising on behalf of a friend who doesn’t have an account. Caesar is an intact 2-year-old male Rottweiler looking for a new home through absolutely no fault of his own. Caesar is a fantastic young dog with a huge personality, lots of love to give and plenty of energy to spare. He is incredibly affectionate and friendly with his people and forms a very close bond with his owners. He loves company, attention and being involved in whatever is going on around him. He is a typical young Rottie in many ways, big, enthusiastic, playful and sometimes completely unaware of his own size. For this reason, we are looking for somebody who already has experience with Rottweilers or other large, powerful breeds. Caesar has a good foundation of basic training and his name recall is excellent. He knows his basics very well, although at only two years old he would absolutely benefit from somebody willing to continue his training and help polish his manners as he matures. He is lead trained, but prospective owners need to realistically consider whether they are physically comfortable handling a large and powerful dog. Caesar is very sociable and can become overexcited when he sees somebody he would like to go over and say hello to, so while he isn't deliberately difficult on the lead, his size and enthusiasm can make him a handful at times. Caesar currently lives with four cats and has always been fantastic with them and he has never shown aggressive behaviour towards the cats in his home. He also gets on brilliantly with other dogs, including smaller breeds. He loves having another dog to play with and I actually think he would benefit from having a friendly, playful companion in his new home, although this isn't an absolute requirement. Caesar does have a prey drive, so he would not be suitable for a home with pet birds. He has not lived with smaller animals such as rabbits, guinea pigs or hamsters, so I can't honestly comment on how he would behave around them. He is also anxious around livestock. This isn't something I would describe as aggression, but cattle, sheep, horses and similar animals can make him uncomfortable and overwhelmed. A new owner would therefore need to be mindful of this when choosing walks, particularly in rural areas. He is a large, energetic young dog and needs a home with a secure private garden where he has space to move around, play and burn off some of that Rottie energy. Due to Caesar's size and strength, I would prefer an adult-only household or one with older children (12+) who are already confident and sensible around large dogs. Caesar is a very playful boy and absolutely loves his toys. He isn't particularly motivated by treats and can actually be fairly fussy when it comes to food. He is currently fed Purina BETA Turkey kibble, which he does well on. He is also fantastic in the car and travels really well, which makes taking him out for walks, trips and adventures much easier. Caesar has no known health issues and is currently a healthy weight. The ideal home for Caesar would be with somebody who: * Has previous experience with Rottweilers or another large/powerful breed * Has a secure private garden * Is physically confident handling a large dog * Has the time to continue his training and give him plenty of exercise and stimulation * Understands that at two years old he is still a young dog with lots of energy * Is looking for an affectionate, playful dog who wants to become a genuine part of the family I'm more than happy to chat at length with genuinely interested people about Caesar before arranging anything. I would much rather answer lots of questions and get to know a potential new owner properly so that everybody can be confident it's the right match. He really is a brilliant, affectionate and incredibly lovable dog. In the right experienced home, with plenty of exercise, play, continued training and people to bond with, I think he will make an absolutely fantastic companion.
