Description

Dolly’s lovely kittens One Boy & One Girl Left! 🐾 Born 20th September With mum in our Hatch Warren, Basingstoke foster home Just 2 kittens left to reserve – 1 boy and 1 girl Ready to leave from approximately 29th November (9 weeks old) Dolly is a lovely young tabby mum who had been living outside in a garden in Shepherd’s Bush, alongside several other homeless cats. The homeowners had been feeding them and giving them as much love and care as they could. When they contacted us because they suspected two of the females were pregnant, we scrambled to find foster spaces for both mums-to-be. Thankfully, we managed to get Dolly and Bonnie safely into Penny Paws care before their babies arrived. We named them in honour of two very special ladies the world loved and sadly lost this year. Bonnie was the first to pop, followed by Dolly, who gave birth on 27th September in our lovely foster home in Hatch Warren, Basingstoke. Her babies are doing beautifully! Everyone is healthy, developing exactly as we would hope and getting all the love and attention they could possibly need from their mum and foster family. We now have just one boy and one girl left to reserve. They are still very young, so their little personalities are only just beginning to emerge. Over the next few weeks we’ll get to know much more about their individual characters, and that’s when choosing your kitten becomes much easier. How Reservations Work I don’t ask adopters to choose an individual kitten when they are only days old. The first few weeks are fragile and, quite honestly, there isn’t enough to know about them yet to make a sensible choice. Instead, a £50 deposit reserves your position within the litter. At around 4–5 weeks, their personalities will be much clearer and you can meet the babies and choose from those available at your position. Choice is given in deposit order. If none of the kittens available to you feels like the right match, your deposit can be refunded or transferred to another Penny Paws kitten. If Penny Paws cannot proceed with an adoption for health or welfare reasons, you won’t lose any money you have paid. Once reserved, you’re very welcome to visit the kittens as they grow, and we’ll connect you with their foster mum for regular photos and updates. Adoption & Care Adoption fee: £200 per kitten Reservation deposit: £50 Remaining balance: £150 before collection The kittens will be 9 weeks old on 29th November and can leave Dolly from around that date, provided they are healthy, fully weaned and ready. Before adoption they will be vet checked and appropriately treated for fleas, worms and mites. Vaccinations are not included. Penny Paws is a completely independent rescue with no outside or guaranteed organisational funding, and nobody makes a profit from what we do. Adoption fees and donations fund everything from everyday food, litter and veterinary care to cats requiring hundreds or sometimes thousands of pounds of emergency treatment. Every penny goes back into caring for Penny Paws cats. Unfortunately, adoption fees alone don’t cover the full cost of our work, so we have to draw the line somewhere. We simply cannot afford to fund vaccinations for every kitten, and ask adopters to arrange and pay for these with their own vet. Neutering Neutering is incredibly important to Penny Paws, and Dolly’s story is a perfect example of why. Far too many cats are living outside, unneutered and producing litter after litter. Finding homes for the kittens already here is only part of what we’re trying to achieve. Preventing the next generation of unwanted litters matters just as much. These babies will be too young for us to neuter before adoption, so responsibility for arranging and funding neutering passes to their adopter, unless otherwise agreed with Penny Paws. Could One of Dolly’s Babies Be Yours? With just one boy and one girl remaining, I’d love to find two wonderful homes for these little ones while they are still growing up safely with their mum. I care enormously about where every Penny Paws kitten ends up. Our application and home-video process isn’t about finding some mythical “perfect” home — it simply helps me understand your household and make sure we’re making the right match for both you and the kitten. Penny Paws is an independent, volunteer-run network of foster homes helping cats in need across London and the South. Every adoption makes it possible for us to help another cat who needs somewhere safe to go.
