Description
Home-bred baby axolotls looking for good permanent homes.
These youngsters are from my own adult axolotls and have been raised at home from eggs. Mum is a golden axolotl and Dad is a dark wild-type, with the babies currently developing into a lovely mixture of light/golden and dark/wild-type juveniles.
They hatched during August and are growing extremely well. They started on freshly hatched baby brine shrimp and are now transitioning successfully onto live tubifex, which they are taking enthusiastically.
I had a considerably more successful hatch than expected, so I'm not looking to make money from them. The £10 is simply a nominal rehoming fee; my priority is finding responsible long-term homes as they become ready.
Expressions of interest are welcome now. I won't let an individual leave until I'm satisfied that it is sufficiently developed, healthy and feeding reliably, anticipating late September.
For most new keepers, I would recommend waiting until the juveniles are larger and fully established on easily replicated foods. Experienced axolotl keepers may be able to take suitable individuals earlier, depending on their development and feeding, so please feel free to message me.
Prospective homes will need a fully cycled aquarium suitable for an axolotl already established before collection. Please research axolotl care before enquiring, particularly their adult size, cool-water requirements, water quality, filtration/flow, suitable substrate and diet.
I'm very happy to discuss their current care and feeding and help genuine prospective owners understand what they will need, including first-time axolotl keepers who have done their research and are prepared before collection.
Both light/golden and dark/wild-type youngsters are expected to be available.
Colour and appearance will continue developing as they grow, so I won't guarantee an exact adult morph from very young juveniles.
Collection only from the King’s Lynn, Norfolk area.
Please message me if you'd like to register an interest, including a little about your existing/planned setup and whether you have kept axolotls before.
