Description
Special home needed for our lovely and lively boy đź’™
We are very sadly looking to find a new home for our beautiful almost 16-month-old Cockapoo, Barnaby. This has been an incredibly difficult decision for our family, but our priority is ensuring both his needs and my daughter’s safety are properly met.
He was well socialised as a puppy and continues to have daily walks and stimulation. He has endless energy and would absolutely thrive with someone active who enjoys long walks, outdoor adventures, enrichment games, and ongoing training. He is bright, eager, and full of life, he is definitely not a low-energy dog. Barnaby has been on many adventures with us and we hope for him to continue to experience that in his new home.
He currently lives with another dog and desperately wants to play with her, but she doesn’t reciprocate. He may enjoy a home with another playful dog, though careful introductions would be essential. Despite consistent and daily socialisation, he still struggles with unfamiliar dogs and can become overexcited or anxious, so he will need confident, experienced handling and continued positive reinforcement training.
He is extremely affectionate and bonds very closely with his people. My partner works from home, and he is used to having company most of the time. We believe his toileting and destruction when left alone in a room is linked to separation anxiety. This is not a consistent occurrence and with alot of enrichment, his destruction has dramatically decreased but toileting remains an ongoing issue he will need support with.
He has also shown resource guarding behaviours and has previously bitten out in these situations. While this is something that can be managed and worked on with the right experience and structure, it is the main reason we have made the heartbreaking decision to rehome him, to ensure my daughter’s safety.
For this reason, he will only be rehomed to:
* An adult-only home (no children)
* Someone experienced with behavioural challenges, particularly resource guarding
* A calm but active household
* Someone with the time, patience, and energy to continue training and build his confidence
* Ideally someone with experience of the Cockapoo breed
He is not a “bad” dog, he is a young, high-energy dog who needs the right environment and experienced guidance to help him feel secure and make good choices. In the right home, we truly believe he can flourish.
Barnaby is raw fed, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccinations. He can take his toys, bowls, blankets, grooming equipment, and leads with him to his new home. We will also provide some of his current food to help with his transition, as we want this move to be as gentle and stress-free as possible for him.
Ideally, we would also like to bring Barnaby to his new home ourselves so we can see the environment he is going into, ensure it feels right for him, and reduce the risk of any disingenuous enquiries. His wellbeing and safety are our priority, and we want to make sure it is the perfect match for everyone.
We are not in a rush and will take great care in choosing the right match. If you feel you could offer him the committed, experienced, and active home he deserves, please get in touch to discuss further.
