With great sadness I'm having to put down one of my rats (Gertrude, lighter brown) due to mobility issues and I'm looking for a nice home for her cage mate (Mulch, darker brown). Number of rats: 1 Sex: Female Location: Glasgow Age: 2 years 6 months Temperament: Mulch is a feisty lady and still very active in spite of her age. She's quite bossy with other rats and grooms others frequently but will eventually settle down; she and he cagemate have slept next to each other almost every day. She loves to build nests with cut up paper or cardboard. Outside the cage, she's very shy and often runs and hides for a few minutes before assessing a situation is safe. She's not very affectionate with humans but is very food motivated and likes to come over for a quick hello before running off to explore. I taught her to spin for treats and now she does it whenever food is a possibility. Health: Mulch has some arthritis in her spine and one of her legs but is medicated with Cystease and Metacam. I have a 3 months supply of medication I am happy to give you for an extra £40 (about £70+ from the vet). She had some red urine a few months ago but it was porphyrin which rats produce when stressed or experiencing inflammation such as arthritis and it went away when treated with anti inflammatories. She's also had some eczema on her tail, now resolved.
