Description
This sale is for a well-established colony of Indian stick insects (Carausius morosus).
The colony contains insects at all stages of their life cycle, including eggs, newly hatched nymphs, juveniles and fully grown adults. The exact number is difficult to determine as they are free-ranging within the enclosure and constantly breeding.
The sale includes the terrarium, complete with an established bioactive substrate ecosystem. This helps break down waste naturally, reducing the amount of cleaning and maintenance required.
Also included are two water pots used for keeping food cuttings fresh. The colony is currently fed on fresh bramble and ivy, both of which are readily available in most areas. Care requirements are simple, making them an ideal beginner species.
The colony is self-sustaining, with eggs continually hatching and replacing older insects. This makes it an excellent educational project for children, schools or anyone interested in observing the complete life cycle of these fascinating insects.
The colony may also be suitable for keepers who use stick insects as feeder insects, as the established breeding population can provide a regular supply.
Indian stick insects are fascinating to watch, easy to care for, and require very little space, making them an ideal pet for both beginners and experienced invertebrate keepers.
