A sad decision for us but due to various changes in circumstances we are no longer able to offer Alfie the life he needs and deserves!
Alfie is a 2 year old typical beagle, full of energy, loves his walks, cuddles and playtime. He can get very excitable and although he currently lives with children and absolutely adores them, I would advise that he is not to be rehomed with small children. He currently lives with a cat but again, due to his playful nature which is not received well by the cat, i would probably advise against it!
He is quite strong and pulls on the lead, training in this area is needed. I use a Halti head collar which works well although he doesn’t love it! As with most beagles he does not have recall, nose on and ears off as soon as he leaves the front door so must never be let off the lead unless in a secure location. He absolutely loves to play with other dogs and could be rehomed with a friendly dog.
Things to be aware of -
- pulls on lead
- must not be let off lead
- escape artist!
- will steal food at every opportunity!
- can be very excitable, especially around new people and does jump up
- dislikes water - showers/baths are a challenge!
- requires lots of cuddles and belly rubs!
- can be left alone for long periods
- very friendly!
- must sleep under a blanket!
- neutered
- not your typical noisy beagle, does not howl/bay
I am not in any urgent rush to rehome Alfie and will be looking for the perfect home for him. Ideally someone with beagle experience.
