Darcy – much-loved Dachshund looking for an experienced home Darcy is a much-loved Dachshund who is looking for a new home with someone who understands the breed and can give her the time, patience and understanding she needs. Darcy can be a little timid at times, but once she knows and trusts you she is a loving and affectionate girl. She absolutely loves going for walks and has brilliant recall. She is also very obedient and enjoys spending time with her people. Darcy has been around our baby grandson and other children and has had no issues with them. However, because of an incident that has happened previously, we feel it is important that she goes to an experienced owner who understands Dachshunds and is confident managing her behaviour. She would need to be the only dog in the household, or potentially live with a small dog following a careful and appropriate introduction. We have not had enough experience of Darcy around cats to say how she would be with them, so we would not want to make assumptions. We are looking for someone who genuinely understands the Dachshund breed — their personality, independence and sometimes stubborn nature — and who is prepared to give Darcy the patience and boundaries she needs. This is an extremely difficult decision as Darcy is very loved. We are not looking for just any home; we want to find the right, experienced home where Darcy will be safe, happy and loved for the rest of her life. We will be completely open and honest about Darcy and her history and would be happy to answer any questions from genuinely interested and suitable owners. Experienced Dachshund owners preferred.
