Description
We are looking for a responsible and experienced home for our beautiful 7-year-old Doberman.
He is a healthy, intelligent, and very people-oriented dog who forms strong bonds with his family. He knows basic commands and behaves much better outdoors than indoors. On walks, he listens well, can sit and stay when asked, and has good recall in safe areas away from distractions. He walks nicely on a lead when given clear guidance and structure.
His main challenges are at home. He struggles greatly with settling down and regulating his emotions. He is highly alert, easily stimulated by activity around him, and often vocalizes when family members are moving around the house. He has a strong need to be involved in everything that is happening and finds it difficult to relax, even after long walks and exercise.
He does not cope well with cats and tends to chase and harass them. He can also become overly excited around other animals and may nip or pester them rather than interact calmly. Because of this, we believe he would be happiest as the only pet in the household.
He would be best suited to an experienced owner who understands high-drive working breeds and is prepared to provide clear boundaries, consistency, and ongoing management. We do not recommend a home with small children.
This has been an incredibly difficult decision for our family. We care deeply about him and want to find a home where his needs can be better met and where he can enjoy the life he deserves.
We are not looking for a quick placement and will only consider serious enquiries from people willing to learn about his personality and needs.
