Description
Blue is a one year old intact male. He is the result of a merle to merle breeding which has resulted in him being born deaf and partially sighted. I believe he is totally deaf although he possibly hears some high pitched noises. He appears to have limited vision in his left eye but he isn't blind and can be walked off lead without needing any guidance.
I recently bought him and he was advertised as being good with cats. Unfortunately he really isn't. I have 3 cats and he is quite determined to chase them both inside the home and outside in the garden. He becomes very vocal and terrifies the life out of the poor cats to the point that they can't come in to our house or garden and it just isn't workable. I have tried to return him to his previous home but sadly she isn't prepared to take him back so I'm tasked with finding him somewhere more suitable.
He's a good boy, very friendly and I have children who he has been great with. He isn't a fan of my male dog but gets on well with my female and has been happy and friendly with male and female dogs he has met outside. He does pull on the lead but that has improved drastically since I got him. He will need ongoing training for that though as he's clearly been allowed to pull in his previous home. We are lucky enough to have an enclosed field at home and I walk him off lead. However because he is deaf he can't be recalled so in public he needs to be on a lead.
He is a little bit of a project. He seems to have had limited training and being deaf does make running him more difficult and obviously he is an energetic dog. An enclosed large garden or access to a dog walking field would be ideal. He's a loving and friendly boy and deserves a good home with someone kind. He definitely can't go and live with cats though. I have sheep which he has largely ignored but I haven't let him in the field with them and given his breed I would expect him to chase them. He is not being given away free to weed out people with the wrong motives.
