Description

Sophie is a 3 year old girl with a personality of a retired lady and patience of a saint! She has been with us since birth and she is very loved. Our 4 year old son who is diagnosed with Autism and ADHD has started for the past few months to hit her, pulling her fur and ears and kicking her when she walks past. This is heartbreaking to see and she is still very loving towards him she’s never growled or barked at him. We tried to keep them separated and we have safety gates on every floor/staircase but he still managed to kick her multiple times a day or throwing things at her over the gates. Sophie is great with cats, we have 2 outdoor cats who are very good at avoiding our son. She isn’t good with other dogs, she’ll not attack but she’ll growl and bark and be very protective of us around other dogs. She can be left on her own during the day for 6-8 hrs, no crate and she will spend her time mostly sleeping. She has good recall, if you whistle at her. She’s good on a lead loves walks on any weather. Sophie is very loving and she will follow us around the house and cuddle at our feet or on the sofa. She loves her food but is currently on a calorie restricted, high protein and high fibre diet as the vet will not spay her unless she looses 3 kg,due to the risk of obesity. She is microchipped and up to date with her health checks and vaccinations. We will be requesting a home visit,in person or virtual if long distance from us. We’d prefer for Sophie to go to a family with children over 6, to avoid the same situation we are in now.
