Marvellous Mack has recently arrived in Basingstoke with his sister Mabel from our Penny’s Ark shelter in Romania to one of our excellent foster homes. He is a sweet, sensitive, gentle, calm soul who is good with other dogs and plays happily with them.
He is calm and gentle with children. Although nervous of strangers, more so when outside, he is never aggressive.
Mack has adjusted well to living in a house for the first time and all the strange(to him) noises like the washing machine, hoover, tumble dryer, TV and hairdryer. He is not a fan of squeaky toys but loves chew toys like antlers. The outside world is still a little overwhelming to Mack at times. He’s scared of bikes, pushchairs and scooters. He is fine with light traffic and trains. Now used to walking with harness, collar and lead. He doesn’t pull on the lead but like many Romanian rescue dogs can be skittish at times. He requires a 3 point harness at all times due to flight risk. He is timid of strangers outside, loves to greet other dogs outside and is polite. Mack will need time and patience to get him to enjoy his walks. When in a secure enclosed field he loves to do short sprints.
Mack is fully house trained. His diet is a combination of James Wellbeloved wet and dry food.
When he was rescued Mack tested positive for heart worm and treatment began immediately, even though he showed no symptoms of the disease. He is expected to make a full recovery.
