Description
Meet Ozzy, 8 months old, and the most loving little character you could hope to meet.
This is an incredibly difficult post for us to write. Ozzy is deeply loved and this decision is absolutely no fault of his own. Due to unexpected changes in our work and living situation, and a planned relocation to Australia, we’ve made the heartbreaking decision that the long flight, quarantine period and climate change wouldn’t be fair on him. He deserves stability and a home where he can truly settle, and that’s what we want to find for him.
Location: South London
About Ozzy
Ozzy is 8 months old and full of personality. He is affectionate, intelligent, playful and incredibly gentle. He loves being around people and being part of whatever is going on. He’s also incredibly easy-going and adaptable, the kind of dog who just “goes with the flow” wherever he is.
His little quirks make everyone fall in love with him:
• Has one adorable pink toe
• Buries treats and bones under blankets and cushions using his nose
• Barks in his sleep and sometimes makes little suckling noises while dreaming
• Makes funny noises going down the stairs
• Sleeps at the end of the bed between your legs
• Loves to move your shoes and cuddle them
• Makes seal-like noises when excited
• Greets you with a sniffly “smile” and head down
• Loves watching the world go by from the window
• Has been known to balance along the backs of sofas and chairs
Temperament & behaviour
• Very gentle with children
• Sociable and friendly with people and other dogs
• Not good with cats
• Protective bark at strangers entering the home, but relaxed and friendly outside
• House trained
• Can free roam without issues
• Can be left overnight (up to 12 hours) and up to 6 hours during the day with no incidents
• Crate trained (used when staying with grandparents)
• Can be picked up and handled easily
• Very independent and settled in new environments, happy at groomers or day care
• No separation anxiety, but loves cuddles and companionship
• Food motivated, smart and eager to learn
Training & routine
Ozzy already knows: sit, stay, come, lay down, roll over, spin, paw, “safety” (between legs), heel (work in progress), leave it, and wait for food.
He is currently being trained as a pub/cafe dog and is doing really well.
He’s happy with one daily walk (around 30–45 minutes) and enjoys playtime, especially fetch with bouncy balls. He’s inquisitive and loves exploring, so a secure garden is important as he will squeeze through small gaps or hop low fences. He always comes back, especially if treats are involved.
Health
• Up to date with vaccinations and flea treatments
• Not a picky eater
• Only gets car sick on long, winding journeys (motorways are fine)
Breed
Dad: black cockapoo
Mum: mixed (approx. American Bulldog, Boxer and other mixes)
The home we want for Ozzy
We know he’ll get a lot of interest because he’s such a special dog, so finding the right home matters most to us.
He would thrive in:
• A loving family environment
• A home with another dog to play with, or people around regularly
• A stable household where he can continue his training and feel secure
To ensure Ozzy goes to the right home:
• We are asking for a £500 rehoming fee
• We would like to do meet-and-greets
• Home checks may be requested as part of the process
No time wasters please. This is an extremely emotional decision and we want to make sure he goes somewhere safe, loving and permanent.
If you think you could give Ozzy the life he deserves, please reach out and tell us about your home, lifestyle and experience with dogs.
