Description

It is with the heaviest heart we are having to rehome this beautiful boy (Rolo). Hes 21 months old (born Feb 2024). Fully vacced, chipped and neutered. He wasnt originally mine. My sister bought him as a pup for my eldest nephew, but unfortunately my youngest nephew was diagnosed with a severe disability and due to unforseen hospital appointments and hospitalisation, my sister couldnt maintain Rolos needs. We didnt want to rehome outside of the family due to the love we have for him, so I brought him with me. I however, have 3 other dogs. One of which is a presa/corso/bully kutta x male. Ive had Rolo since May this year, and all has been great, up until a mid October (2025). While I was in work and my pensioner mum was looking after them, my presa and Rolo had a big fight. Rolo has an incredibly loveable, kind nature and would be nothing short of a dream for any home that is right for him! He is however a fairly dominant and strong dog, and would need someone experienced with his breed and able to handle his strength (hes currently approx 23kg, and while hes not what I would consider a big dog, is very strong). I would not feel comfortable rehoming him to anyone with any other dogs. Hes almost perfect but he does have a lot toy possessiveness which will turn to toy aggression if around another male, and more recently females also. This was the cause of the first fight between Rolo and my presa. Ive worked hard with him since May and honestly thought we'd turned a corner with it, however with me not being here, unfortunately he proved otherwise. Rolo ended up worse for ware and with stitches. Initially I was still going to keep him however he had shown shortly after, and over the last few weeks that it has caused him some trauma and hes becoming more on edge around my presa, and has gone for him a few times. He is also reluctant to come back in my home when he sees him. This has led to another fight between them. We have contacted several dog rescue slcentres however we are getting nowhere, and there is no one else we know that is in a position to help. Hes also become quite flinchy and cautious with humans, although has shown no aggression toward people, just some nevervousness. My presa has little to no interest in him at all, but Rolo continues to try and dominate my presa, and I cannot risk any of them getting hurt again, so Rolo is with a fanily member while in recovery. My family cannot keep him unfortunatelyand the worry of him having to come back into my home is beyond concerning, for everyones safety. The most recent fight led to alot of injuries on Rolo as my male is much bigger ajd stronger than him, but had no choice but to defend himself. Luckily stitches or staples weren't required, but he has cuts, bruising and swelling on almost every part of im. Rolo is house trained, crate trained, will sit, lay and stay on command and has incredible recall off leash. He walks great on leash with me, at my side without pulling, and I often walk him off leash at my side down busy roads as he is very well behaved, but he will push his limits if the standards arent set from the get go. If his pulling is not corrected and mainted, he will drag you down the street. He will not jump on my bed without permission but again, he will push his limits if he is not set boundaries from the get go. He is also trained on an e-collar but only needed when a ball is involved, and only recently due to his possessiveness with a ball. If he shows any possessiveness with a ball, i will instantly stop him from playing so he knows its unacceptable. He has a lot of energy and needs at least 40 minutes of walking a day, off leash, chasing a ball. As i work from home hes not used to be left often, and if left alone without being walked first, he will find something to occupy himself, if not left in a crate, (typically a pillow or a shoe) as most typical dogs will. He is also always left with other dogs, so if left alone without gradual training, time and reassurance, he will cry and whine. Homing him, and attempting to leave him straight away is not going to go well for him. He is currently fed once a day with a mix of a handful of Purina dry food and raw meat. I am willing to answer any and all questions about Rolo. I was truly hoping it wouldnt have to come to this, and it is going to break mine and my familys heart having to let him go. He is free to the best home. I will not take interest lightly and would like to softly vet anyone that has interest. Due to the recent attempt of rehoming, and having to collect and bring him back home, along with the trauma of the fights he has encountered, I will categorically not rush into making a decision as it's not fair to him and I dont want to confuse him and have him bouncing around. He is desperate for a safe loving home though. Genuine interest only please. Our boy needs someone who is serious about loving him but also dealing with his dominant nature and help rehabilitating his mental state following these fights.
