Description
Deipha is a beautiful, loyal, and deeply affectionate Shar-Pei looking for a wonderful new home — not because she's anything other than an absolute joy, but because her current owner's work and travel commitments have changed, and she deserves someone who can give her the full-time love and attention she so richly deserves.
If you've never spent time with a Shar-Pei, prepare to be won over. Deipha is the embodiment of the breed at its best: calm, devoted, and endlessly loving. She has a sweet, gentle temperament and is always up for a play session or a cuddle on the sofa. She will follow you from room to room, settle quietly at your feet, and greet you every single morning like you're the best thing she's ever seen. Giving her up is genuinely heartbreaking, and finding her the perfect home is paramount,
Living with Deipha
Deipha is five and a half years old — old enough to be calm and settled, young enough to have plenty of years of joy ahead of her. She currently lives happily alongside two cats and is completely at ease around them — so if you have feline housemates, she'll fit right in without missing a beat. She'd also potentially thrive in a home with children; she's gentle, patient, and has a playful streak that kids tend to love.
A home with a garden would be wonderful for her, though it's not essential. What she does need is roughly an hour of walking spread across four short outings each day — nothing too strenuous, but she loves to be out and about, sniffing, exploring, and trotting along beside you. She is healthy and has always been so, aside from a couple of minor UTIs, both of which were quickly resolved. She is fully microchipped and up to date with her care.
When it comes to feeding, Deipha is refreshingly low-maintenance. She eats twice a day but is very much a grazer — she'll come back to her bowl in her own time rather than wolfing it all down at once, so there's no pressure around mealtimes.
One important thing to know
Deipha is not good around other dogs. This is partly a lockdown legacy — like many dogs raised during that period, she missed out on crucial early socialisation — and partly a Shar-Pei trait, as the breed can sometimes provoke a reaction from other dogs simply by the way they look. She is not aggressive, but she needs careful management around other dogs, and she should not go to a home that already has a dog. On walks, she does best with plenty of space from other dogs and a confident, patient handler.
Finding the right home
Because this is so hard to do, I want to make absolutely sure Deipha goes somewhere wonderful. I'd love to hear all about you, your home, your lifestyle, and who she'll be spending her days with. I'm also very happy to visit before anything is decided — this is about finding the right fit, not just any fit.
Deipha deserves the world. I hope you're the one to give it to her.
