Description
This is Duke, our 9-month-old male German Shepherd.
We have had Duke since he was 8 weeks old and chose him from his litter when he was 4 weeks old. It is with a very heavy heart that we are looking for a new forever home for him. This has not been an easy decision, and we are committed to finding him the right home where he can continue to thrive.
Duke is a sweet, affectionate boy who has completed puppy training classes. He has grown up around young children and cats and is a loving family dog. He is a lap dog at heart and will never turn down a game of fetch.
Duke knows the commands sit, wait, touch, place, crate, and gentle. He is crate trained, toilet trained, has good recall, and walks well on a Halti. He can be a little enthusiastic when first leaving the house and may pull initially, but once settled into his walk he does very well.
Like many young German Shepherds, Duke can sometimes jump up when greeting new people due to excitement. We have been working on this using the cue word “down,” and he is making good progress. He may occasionally bark when someone comes to the door if he is home alone with me, but this is not an issue when my husband is home.
Duke is fully vaccinated, microchipped, regularly flea and worm treated, and is not neutered. He can come with some of his belongings, including his bed, toys, food, Halti, lead, and, if required his XL crate.
We are looking for a loving, committed home that understands the needs of a young German Shepherd and can continue his training and development.
