Description
This is Bleu, our lovely hand-reared cockatiel who was born on 10th May 2025. We raised her ourselves from a baby so she has grown up around people and is very comfortable being around us.
Bleu is a very curious and sweet little bird who loves sitting on shoulders and whistling away while you go about your day. She’ll happily sit with you for ages and often falls asleep on your shoulder, which is very cute.
We’ve always called Bleu a girl, but recently she has started whistling a lot more and her face is starting to turn more yellow, so we are beginning to wonder if she might actually turn out to be a boy.
She’s quite musical too. She whistles the start of “September” and “I’m a Little Teapot”, does a wolf whistle, and even says “da bird!” which she picked up from us saying it to her a lot. If you whistle September to her, she’ll nod her head along, which always makes us laugh.
She absolutely loves treats, especially Rice Krispies and edamame beans (given in small safe amounts of course).
Bleu isn’t very keen on being stroked or touched just yet, but she’s still young and we feel with time and patience she will get there. Even though she doesn’t like being touched, she still loves being close to people and sitting on shoulders chatting away. She steps up nicely.
A couple of months ago she sadly lost her sister, which was very sad, but she has been very brave and has been doing really well since.
The only reason we are looking to rehome Bleu is because we feel she deserves more time and attention than we’re currently able to give her. She’s such a lovely bird and we want her to go somewhere she can fly around regularly, get lots of interaction, and not be kept cooped up.
Finding the right home is the most important thing to us, so we’d love her to go to someone who will give her lots of attention and patience.
