Description

Long term foster / Permanent home 💜 Winter is a 8 almost 9 year old German Shepard. (Winnie) is a very soft and loving girl once you get to know her, typical older dog likes a good run for an hour and plenty of treats and happy to relax for the rest of the day. Winter is dog reactive, she needs a 1:1 male household as she’s only ever bonded with males in the home or a young couple experienced with strong large breeds and reactivity. Although Winnie is nearly 9 she can still pull on the lead and her reactivity to dogs means she’s very strong if she catches you off guard we are managing this with her now muzzle trained and introducing a head collar/figure 8 leash. Under no circumstances winter can live with another dog or cat, she can however live with older children 12+ but we can introduce younger children and assess suitability - to be clear this is based on the child’s behaviour and lifestyle not the dog. Winter has been through a lot after loosing her owner in May and her next home will be her final stop, we will be providing full rescue backup regardless but it’s absolutely essential that before you apply for winter you are committed to giving an older dog a final home & deal with her reactivity via dog avoidance or private hire fields Winter can still be trained around reactivity but due to her anxiety and age we would prefer she’s just left to it and measures are put in place to avoid anymore stress for her, her reactivity stems from frustration from other dogs in the home and years of not being walked or taught any leash/dog manners. Please don’t let winters reactivity put you off applying, she’s an all round fantastic dog and her loyalty, recall off lead and general temperament is absolutely fantastic. For any more information on Winnie please get in touch to arrange to meet her 💜 Winter is based in Carlisle her adoption fee is £150 Winter can be transported at cost to the adopter Winter has had a health check, her vaccination card is available, microchipped & spayed.
