THE HEARTBREAK:
Bambam is a beautiful 9-month-old boy who has been severely let down. He was recently rehomed to people who ignored every piece of advice I gave. They didn't wait for the scheduled Zoom call with a trainer and didn't let him settle into his new home before throwing him "straight in at the deep end." They took him into a busy town centre twice in 5 days, shattering his confidence and breaking his trust.
THE REAL BAMBAM:
When he feels safe, he is a typical, loving Dachshund. He is quite vocal, but he loves one-on-one cuddles and his absolute favorite thing is to lay in the garden and sunbathe. He is healthy, microchipped, and fully up to date with his vaccinations.
HIS NEEDS NOW:
Because his trust was broken, he has returned a shell of himself. He is currently reactive to everything. I am working with him daily—even with a broken foot—to sit quietly in fields and watch the world go by to show him it's not so scary. However, since returning, he has started snapping at my other 4 dogs (including his mum and dad) due to extreme stress. For the safety of everyone, he MUST be the only pet.
STRICT REQUIREMENTS – NO EXCEPTIONS:
- NO OTHER PETS / NO CHILDREN: He needs a calm, adult-only environment to decompress.
- EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: You must show proof/references of a dog you have trained. You must be willing to listen to my advice and follow a slow transition plan.
- COMMITMENT: Do not apply if you are going to give up after 5 days. Rebuilding trust takes months, not days.
THE PROCESS:
Bambam had 500 people interested in him originally. The wrong home was chosen, and it cost him his confidence. I will be interviewing heavily. One of those 500 people could have been his forever home; I won't let the wrong person take that away from him again.
