Description
This advert is for juveniles/subadults of Atopochetus dollfusi, the Rainbow Millipede.
Juveniles are about 18 months old, are 2.5-3” long and are displaying early signs of adult colouration. They can be quite surface-active during the day, but are much busier at night.
The species is slightly finickier than some and requires humidity no lower than 70%RH, with 80% perhaps being preferable. Balance should be maintained between appropriate humidity and ventilation while ensuring that the substrate is not over-wet. Temperatures should be maintained between 22-26C.
Provide a substrate composed of topsoil enriched with rotting leaf litter and rotten white wood. As with all millipedes, these must NOT be kept on coco fibre, as this leads to impaction and death in the long-run. Supplementing with occasional fruits, veg and protein is beneficial.
These are captive bred members of my breeding colony.
