He is a very easy dog in the "right hands" Henry seems to have more of a preference for men been in charge rather than women! He is fine for me but he can be pushy and somewhat stubborn when I'm asking him to do basic things such as come in from the garden. I usually have to use food where as for my husband he naturally wants to please! He looks forward to my husband coming home and it is very much apparent that he would probably bond quickly with a confident male handler. HENRY – 2 Year Old Neutered English Show Cocker Spaniel – Looking For His Forever, Experienced Home From fully health tested parents - KC Name: Goldenpaws Handsome Henry Henry is a dog that must be managed in a very certain way in order to stop him regressing back to his old ways. For 2 years Henry found the environment he lived in was chaotic, volatile, unpredictable and without clear boundaries. He badly needs someone confident to be in charge otherwise he takes it upon himself to fill in those gaps Henry suffered rough handling in his previous home and became so untrusting that he bit a child when she crawled into his bed where he was sleeping and pulled him towards her so now has a "Level 3 Bite History" Henry has been back with us ( his original breeder ) for just over 2 months now and has shown no aggression at any point. With a clear routine, structure, and professional support from our behaviorist and vet, Henry has made incredible progress and is now perfectly manageable Since returning to us he has been well behaved, settled, and although nervous at times has shown no aggression at all - this is because we are managing him in a certain way that is consistent predictable and safe *The positives:* - Fantastic walking companion – walks nicely on lead - Travels well in the car - Gets along well with other dogs if carefully introduced - Fully house-trained and never destructive - Loves his crate as his safe space - No separation anxiety – happy to be left for a few hours - Loves a short fuss but only on his own terms -Good Watchdog *The home Henry needs:* - *Quiet, rural home* with a *secure garden* - * Person working from or at home full time* - *No children or visiting grandchildren* – due to his bite history - care to be taken when any strangers enter the home Henry will need to be put away in his "safe space" crate - *No cats or small furries* - *Can live with another calm, dog-savvy dog* - *Someone experienced with gundogs/cockers* who understands management boundaries and leadership - *Someone committed* to regular contact during the handover and afterwards who is willing to work together with me whilst implementing and following the plan to safely manage Henry. Must also be willing to sign a rehoming contract Henry needs a lot more than "love" We are looking for a very specific, confident, and experienced person preferably a man who wants to give an older dog who has been through trauma the chance at a stable fulfilled life. Henry could also be a great running companion as he thrives from excercise and loves the outdoors Full veterinary history is available If you think you could be that person for Henry, please get in touch and tell me a bit about yourself.
