HENRY – 2 Year Old Neutered English Show Cocker Spaniel – Looking For His Forever, Experienced Home
Photos show Henry before and after the groomers- he has been to the groomer today 28.08.26 and they report he was very well behaved no different to many of the other cocker spaniels they see on a regular basis.
Henry will not be available immediately as he is currently still going through rehabilitation with us and we anticipate it's going to take a long time to find his forever home.
This advert will remain open for as long as it takes. We are in no rush. Our priority is finding Henry the _right_ home, not just _any_ home.
Henry is a 2 year old, neutered, English Show Cocker Spaniel. He has come back to us, his original breeder, after living in a chaotic and unpredictable home environment where his trust in humans was very minimal.
As a result, Henry developed some fear-based behaviors and has a *level 3 bite history*
With a clear routine, structure, and professional support from our behaviorist and vet, Henry has made incredible progress. Since returning to us he has been well behaved, settled, and although nervous has shown no aggression at all
To keep everyone safe and to prevent any future issues, he needs to continue with the same management plan he has now. It is straightforward and consistent, and it works.
*The positives:*
- Fantastic walking companion – walks nicely on lead
- Travels well in the car
- Gets along well with other dogs
- Fully house-trained and never destructive
- Loves his crate as his safe space
- No separation anxiety – happy to be left for a few hours
*The home Henry needs:*
- *Quiet, rural home* with a *secure garden*
- * Person working from or at home full time*
- *No children or visiting grandchildren* – due to his bite history
- *No cats or small furries*
- *Can live with another calm, dog-savvy dog*
- *Someone experienced with gundogs/cockers* who understands management boundaries and leadership
- *Someone committed* to regular contact during the handover and willing to sign a rehoming contract
We are looking for a very specific, confident, and experienced person or couple who wants to give an older dog who has been through trauma the chance at a calm, fulfilled life. Henry could also be a great running companion as he thrives from excercise and loves the outdoors
Henry will never be fully "cured" from feeling nervous around people however he can be managed to prevent it escalating into a bite with consistent routine and careful handling
Full veterinary history is available
If you think you could be that person for Henry, please get in touch. We will only consider homes that meet all of the above criteria.
