I am looking to rehome two male rats to an experienced owner who is confident working with nervous rats. I took them on as a first-time rat owner after being told they were around 3 months old, but I believe they may be older than this. Since coming to us they have been very wary of handling and have bitten both myself and my son. While I have made some progress building trust and can now get much closer to them when they are in their cage, they are still not comfortable being handled... or i am too nervous and they are sensing this. I genuinely believe they would benefit from a more experienced home where someone has the confidence, knowledge and time to continue working with them. As first-time owners, we feel we are not the right fit to give them the level of rehabilitation and confidence-building they need. This is a very difficult decision, but their welfare comes first and I want them to have the best chance of thriving. I will only consider homes that already have rat experience and understand that these boys may need patience and ongoing trust-building. Their cage and accessories can be discussed with any potential adopter. Please get in touch if you would like more information or think you could offer them the right home.
