Description
Meet Krieg, our 10-month-old German Shepherd—a loyal, intelligent young dog with plenty of energy and potential.
Krieg was purchased from a reputable, council-licensed breeder, and we’ve had him since he was 8 weeks old. The breeder has a strong reputation and takes great pride in her bloodlines.
Due to this, an endorsement has been placed on the litter. This means that any future puppies from Krieg cannot be registered with the Kennel Club. This won’t affect anyone looking for a family pet, but it’s important to note for anyone considering breeding.
Krieg needs an active home where he won’t be left alone for long periods. He requires regular exercise, mental stimulation, and ongoing training. We would ideally like him to go to someone with experience of German Shepherds or other large, working breeds, so he can continue to thrive.
Krieg has been brought up in a loving family home around two young children. He is used to a busy environment and has a good nature, but like many young dogs, he can chew if left alone for too long.
He knows a wide range of commands, although some will benefit from continued training and consistency. Commands he responds to include: sit, stay, come, speak, quiet, catch, gentle, go, move/move back, no no, leave it, drop it, paw, down, this way, cross(road), and stand.
Lead training is still a work in progress. Krieg is a strong dog and can pull, which is something we’ve been actively working on. He responds well to guidance and is improving, but will need someone willing to continue this training.
He enjoys being off lead and will run nearby while keeping an eye on his handler. His recall is good—he responds well to a whistle and will come back when called. However, he can be a little reluctant to go back on the lead, likely due to limited off-lead time while he has been growing and his exercise has been carefully managed.
Health: Krieg comes from health-tested parents. Both parents have undergone hip and elbow scoring, with good results, and have been DNA tested. His mother is genetically clear for degenerative myelopathy. Both parents have been hip scored, with results of 10 (mother) and 11 (father), which are within a good range for the breed. Documentation can be provided.
He is toilet trained, fully vaccinated, wormed, and flea-treated.
Through no fault of his own, we simply no longer have the time he needs and deserves due to some recent personal lifestyle changes.
