Pablo – Classic American Bully Male | Lilac Tri | ABKC
Pablo is a nearly 3-year-old Classic American Bully, around 55kg and approximately 16–17 inches at the withers. He is ABKC registered, DNA/health tested, and is a very healthy, strong and well-built dog.
He is an extremely intelligent, affectionate and loving dog. He absolutely loves physical affection and can go from being excited to completely settled with a cuddle. He is also very food motivated, which makes him very easy to train. He knows sit, lie down and up and is very well house trained.
Physically, Pablo is in excellent condition. He has very good structure and symmetry, with good eyes, ears, mouth, teeth and legs and no obvious structural issues. He has no skin lesions, missing fur, lumps, bumps or significant scars.
Around unfamiliar dogs, Pablo can become very highly aroused and reactive, particularly when outside. He can fixate, pull and become difficult to manage, so he needs an experienced owner who understands how to handle a strong dog and is prepared to continue working with him. I personally don’t believe dogs should be off lead unless they are in a safe and appropriate environment, and Pablo is not a dog I would advise letting off lead in public.
His reactivity became much more noticeable after he was attacked by a Cane Corso. However, Pablo has previously lived in a house with another similar-sized dog and, once familiar, they were able to walk around the house freely and play together without any issues. With the right introductions and a consistent routine around suitable dogs, I believe he can reach his full potential.
He has been good with my own children, but they don’t live with me so he hasn’t had much recent exposure to children. Because of his size, strength and history, I would personally prefer him to go to a home without young children running around.
The reason for rehoming is not because I don’t love him. An unexpected change in my living situation has made things extremely difficult, and our current accommodation simply isn’t substantial enough for Pablo. We previously had access to a garden, which made life much more suitable for him, but we no longer do. I don’t feel it is fair to keep him in an environment where he doesn’t have the space and outdoor access he deserves.
This is an extremely difficult decision for me and one I never expected to have to make. Rehoming Pablo will cause me a great deal of sadness, because he is a huge part of my life and I love him deeply. For that reason, I will not be choosing a new owner based simply on who can pay the asking price. I need to feel completely comfortable that he is going to someone who genuinely understands him, has the right environment for him and will give him the life he deserves.
He is an incredibly loving dog and I want him to have a home where he has the space, structure, exercise and attention he needs — ideally somewhere with a secure garden and an experienced owner who understands the breed and his needs.
Pablo is entire and has not been neutered.
Please tell me a little about yourself, your experience with large breeds and the home you can offer him. I would much rather take my time and find the right person than rush the process.
