Description
We are unfortunately having to rehome our puppy. He is 15 weeks old tomorrow, very loving, playful and simply wonderful.
My youngest child is autistic and we are not coping with the puppy. Our family would be better suited to an older dog.
For the safety of the puppy and our family, we are having to rehome our little Reggie.
Reggie is toilet trained outside, crate trained, sleeps in his crate, has a “fresh food” diet (very affordable) which we continued on from his breeder.
He loves his treats, he loves to play.
He isn’t fully trained on lead yet, and needs training with socialising as he is too eager with other dog and people.
He’s had his first puppy groom last week and did really well.
He has a little dog teddy which is his bestie so this goes to bed with him each night.
Reggie was used to being around other dog before we got him and would benefit from a home with another dog.
We have been training him around cats when on walks and it’s going well. Lots of high value treats needed and a safe distance.
He doesn’t always like being left alone, but he does cope reasonably well when we go out if we put him in his crate and put housewives of New York on the telly loud enough for him to hear and dull out the outside noises. I wouldn’t recommend leaving him longer than a few hours but I would also recommend stepping into this gradually while he settles in to prevent separation anxiety.
He is great in the garden but likes to dig so our beds have been fenced off.
He doesn’t cope if you shut him in the garden and leave him. He will howl until someone returns. Even for a few minutes. He’s happy if the door stays open enough for him to come and go.
I’m very sad to hear sending him off, but unfortunately our home is not the right fit for a young puppy. It wouldn’t be fair to keep him in the hopes things improve with my child. All was great in the beginning but unfortunately with autism, things change quickly and the overstimulation of a puppy’s energy is simply too much.
We are asking for a fee for Reggie with covers a small part of what we paid for him and ensures he goes to a safe home.
He has had all his vaccinations, treatments and health check at the vets. He’s in great health and copes well at the vets. He is also microchipped.
