Description
We are looking for a knowledgeable, experienced home for our much-loved 2-year-old male Rottweiler.
This is an incredibly difficult decision for us, but due to a change in circumstances and a Voluntary Control Order (VCO) now in place, we can no longer give him the home environment he deserves around our children. The restrictions mean he must be muzzled or kept separate from them at all times, which we feel is unfair on him long-term.
We are giving him structured training and he's responding well but due to the circumstances we feel we are not the right environment for him now.
He has been a well-loved family pet and this situation is not a reflection of him being a “bad dog.” In fact, he is a bright, capable loving dog who has unfortunately developed some dominant behaviours due to us being too relaxed with boundaries. With the right structure, consistency, and experienced handling, we truly believe he will thrive.
About him:
2 years old, male Rottweiler
Healthy and well cared for.
Quick to learn, intelligent, and eager to please
Walks well on the lead and enjoys his walks.
Can be reactive to other dogs if challenged, otherwise will ignore them
Wary of strangers and naturally protective.
Affectionate and loving, enjoys fuss on his terms.
Loves playing ball and tug and scent work like find it games. Is house trained and is fine to be left for periods, has never been destructive in the house.
Ideal home:
Experienced Rottweiler or large-breed owner only
Adult-only home or no young children
Someone confident in setting clear boundaries and providing ongoing training
A calm, structured environment where he can feel secure
At present, he is being managed carefully—either in a secure outdoor kennel we have built for him or inside when the children are not present.
He is absolutely fine with us.
This is absolutely heartbreaking for us, and we will not let him go to just anyone. The right home is essential, and we are happy to discuss everything honestly with potential adopters.
We know with the right person or couple, he will make an outstanding, loyal companion.
