🐾 Loving Forever Home Wanted for Miller – 2-Year-Old Long-Haired German Shepherd 🐾
With a very heavy heart, I am looking to rehome my beautiful boy, Miller, due to personal circumstances. This has been an incredibly difficult decision for my family, as both my son and I absolutely adore him. Unfortunately, as I am pregnant and live in a bungalow, I am finding it increasingly difficult to provide Miller with the time, attention and exercise he needs and truly deserves.
❤️ About Miller
Miller is a 2-year-old, long-haired German Shepherd with so much to offer the right person. He is incredibly friendly with women and has grown up alongside my son since he was a baby. My son is now 2 years old, and Miller has also met both younger and older children.
He can be wary of men when first meeting them and may bark a lot until he feels comfortable, so he will need time, patience and understanding when building new relationships.
Miller is house-trained and a clever boy who will knock on the back door when he needs to go outside to toilet.
🐾 Personality, Training and Exercise
Miller is an intelligent boy who is extremely treat- and food-driven, which makes training with rewards a great way to work with him. He knows commands such as sit, lie down and roll over, and can perform other tricks in exchange for treats.
He also has good recall when walking in a secure, confined area with no other dogs around. However, due to his reactivity towards other dogs, recall should not be relied upon to manage encounters with them.
Miller is extremely reactive towards other dogs, which means he needs an experienced owner who understands dog reactivity and can manage it responsibly. For this reason, he must be the only dog in the household. He is also not particularly fond of cats, so a home without cats would be best.
Walking Miller can be challenging in busy environments due to his reactivity. However, with a consistent routine and quieter walking times, such as early mornings or late evenings, he can be a dream to walk.
He is a very strong dog and can pull when excited, so he needs a confident, physically capable handler who can manage him safely and continue working on his walking skills.
🏡 The Home Miller Deserves
Miller would thrive in a home with a large, secure, enclosed garden where he has plenty of space to explore, play and enjoy time outdoors.
I am looking for a loving, patient and committed home that understands the needs of a German Shepherd and is prepared to give Miller the time, structure, exercise and training he needs to thrive. Experience with large breeds or reactive dogs would be a real advantage.
Miller is not neutered and remains intact. To my knowledge, this has not been a concern in his behaviour.
❤️ Finding the Right Forever Home
I would ideally like at least two meet-ups with any potential new owner before making a decision, as Miller can be wary of unfamiliar people and needs time to feel comfortable.
This is not a decision we have made lightly. Miller means the world to us, and it is heartbreaking to have to make this choice. However, his needs and happiness must come first, and I want to ensure he finds a home where he will be loved, understood and given the life he deserves.
Please only enquire if you are genuinely able to offer Miller a suitable, stable and loving forever home. Finding the right home is far more important to us than finding a home quickly. ❤️🐾
