Belle – loving show Cocker Spaniel looking for an understanding home
Belle is a chocolate-and-white show Cocker Spaniel who turns two on 13 October. She is spayed, microchipped and based in Telford.
She currently lives with our male Cocker Spaniel (nearly one) and a teenage child.
We got her to be a companion to our existing dog but feel it is not working well due to her nervousness.
We privately rehomed Belle at the end of August. Sadly, she has struggled with separation difficulties and become particularly attached to me (this seems to be the case with any female). She barks and whines when we go out and can become upset when separated from me indoors, even when my husband and our other dog are with her. However, she can also settle and sleep calmly in some situations.
She also sleeps best at night in the same room as her owner.
She is currently taking prescribed Prozac and needs an understanding owner willing to continue veterinary support and patient, gradual training. Our other dog’s company has not resolved her difficulties, and we cannot promise she will immediately cope with being left in a new home.
Belle recently ran home to find me during an off-lead walk with my husband, crossing roads, so she must be kept on a lead unless in a securely enclosed area.
Unfortunately, we live in a semi-detached house and have received neighbour complaints about her barking. We cannot provide the ongoing supervision she currently needs. This is a very difficult decision, and we want to find a home that can meet her needs.
Ideally, her new owner would have experience with separation difficulties, be home much of the time and have a practical plan for when they need to go out. Her veterinary records will be provided, and we are happy to discuss her behaviour and routine fully.
Please message with details of your household, working hours, other pets and relevant experience. A suitable, caring home is our priority.
