Description
Meet Sylvie, a beautiful girl of around two years old who is slowly discovering that life can be safe, comfortable and full of lovely things.
Sylvie came into our care when we rescued her from a South London cat colony where she was one of around 40 cats. Life in a busy street colony is very different from life in a home, and she is still growing in confidence and learning to trust people. She may be shy when you first meet her, but there is a sweet, affectionate side to Sylvie that comes out as she begins to feel comfortable.
One of the quickest ways to win her over is with a brush! Sylvie loves being brushed and even enjoys a little tummy tickle once she feels at ease. She likes to approach when she wants to check in or spend time with you, so her new family will need to let her set the pace rather than expect instant cuddles. Give her a quieter space to settle into at first, along with patience and a predictable routine, and she can continue building her confidence in her own time.
Sylvie also has a playful side. Cardboard boxes are a firm favourite, feather toys are great fun, and she has a wonderfully enthusiastic big stretch that is sure to make you smile! She is very good with other cats and genuinely enjoys their company. She could thrive in a home with friendly resident cats, or be introduced to feline companions gradually once she has settled in. Having other cats around may also help her feel more at home.
Because Sylvie is still a shy girl, we feel she would be happiest in a calm, more mature household without young children, whose noise and sudden movements could be unsettling for her. She has not been assessed with dogs, so we cannot say how she would respond to them.
Sylvie is looking for someone who understands that trust takes time and that the quieter cats can be every bit as rewarding as the most outgoing ones. She may not rush to greet you on day one, but watching her confidence grow and seeing her choose to approach you is a lovely thing to be part of.
Sylvie is:
✅ Spayed
✅ Microchipped
✅ Vaccinated
✅ Dewormed
✅ Blood tested (FIV-/FeLV-)
✅ Vet health checked
Sylvie will need an indoor-only home, or access to a fully cat-proofed garden or secure catio. With a little patience, a peaceful space of her own and the company of other friendly cats, we hope she will continue to blossom into the happy, relaxed girl she is becoming.
If you can offer Sylvie a loving happy ever-after, please get in touch today! We will send you a link to complete our online pre-adoption form and we will also require a home video check as part of our process. If you have any questions, please reach out and one of our small team of volunteers will get back to you as soon as possible.
Please note: Every Cat Matters is an indoor-only rescue. This means all our cats should be kept in a safe, enriching indoor environment, unless they have access to a secure cat-proof garden, catio, or netted balcony.
We believe cats can live full, happy lives without free roaming outdoors. Keeping them safe indoors protects them from road accidents, injuries, contagious illnesses, and territorial fights—while also helping to preserve local wildlife. With love, enrichment, and security, indoor cats truly thrive and live their longest lives.
