Description

It’s with a very heavy heart that I’m considering finding a new home for my beautiful boy, Roti. Roti was born on 12th October 2024, making him 2 years old. We have had him since he was 8 weeks old. He is neutered and is genuinely such a gorgeous boy, both in looks and personality. Personality-wise, Roti is very calm and gentle. He's quite an independent little character and definitely likes things on his own terms. He enjoys being stroked and having kisses, and will happily let you fuss him when he's in the mood, but he's not the type of rabbit who will come looking for affection or want to sit on your lap. He absolutely does not like being picked up, so this is something his new owner would need to understand and respect. He's generally very well behaved and doesn't chew much, apart from the occasional rubbery thing he manages to find! He's a lovely, quiet boy who enjoys doing his own thing, exploring, eating and relaxing. Why am I considering rehoming? This isn't a case of me simply not wanting Roti anymore. Since getting him, I've had quite a few changes in my living situation, career and general commitments. I'm also now away from home a lot more than I used to be. Because of these changes, I've started to feel that I'm no longer able to give him the time, companionship and lifestyle that he deserves. I've thought about this for a long time, and although it's a really difficult decision, I genuinely feel that finding him the right home could give him a better quality of life. What I'm looking for in his new home: Ideally, I'd love Roti to go to someone who can eventually give him a bonded rabbit companion, as I think having the right bunny friend would be lovely for him. I'd also like him to go to someone who has the time to give him the attention, care and space he deserves. Roti has always lived indoors and has never lived outside. My preference would be for him to remain an indoor rabbit, but I would also consider an outdoor bunny shed/home if it was a genuinely suitable setup. This would need to be fully insulated, secure and protected from the elements, with appropriate heating in the winter and ways of keeping him cool in the summer. Ultimately, his welfare is the most important thing to me, so I wouldn't rule out the right outdoor setup. A little bit about bonding: I have previously tried to bond Roti with another rabbit over a period of around 3 months. Normally, he's a very tame and timid boy, but when another rabbit was introduced into his environment, he did become quite on edge. There was some grunting and, unfortunately, their first bonding session did end in a fight. I couldn't say which rabbit started it, but I do think it's important to be honest that bonding him may not necessarily be straightforward. For this reason, I'd ideally like him to go to someone with previous rabbit bonding experience who understands that he may need a little more patience and care when being introduced to another rabbit. A few other things: - Neutered. - Born 12th October 2024. - Has always lived indoors. - Calm, gentle and independent personality. - Doesn't like being picked up. - Can go with his belongings if wanted. I'm happy to discuss what's available. Please read before messaging! I'm in absolutely no rush to rehome Roti. I'd much rather wait months for the perfect home than let him go somewhere that isn't right for him. If this advert is still up, he is still available, so please don't just message asking "Is he still available?" as I won't be responding to those messages. If you're genuinely interested, please send me a message telling me a little bit about yourself, your experience with rabbits, your current setup and what sort of home you could offer Roti. I'd also really appreciate photos or videos of your setup. I will be asking questions and taking my time deciding. I want to feel completely comfortable with where he's going, and I hope anyone genuinely interested will understand that. One thing that is really important to me is that his new owner must be happy to keep in touch and send me occasional updates and photos of Roti. I know I'm going to miss him terribly, and it would mean a lot to me to be able to see how he's settling in and know that he's happy and doing well. Roti means a lot to me, and I really do just want him to have the best possible life. This isn't about finding him just any home; it's about finding him the right one. 🤍🐰
