Description
This is an adult dog, 6 years old.
This dog is only for residents of Renfrewshire, Ayrshire or Inverclyde as I will vet prospective owners very carefully. There will need to be a process of getting to know the dog and me before any sale could take place. No sale would be agreed until this process was completed to my satisfaction. This would involve many meetings over a few weeks.
My beautiful dog is a much loved, gentle, loving family pet. He is also a territorial guard dog who needs an experienced, serious owner. He has never been around children but would adapt to calm teenagers. He is a strong dog who does pull on the lead a bit, sometimes a lot, and is reactive with many other dogs. He does love some other dogs though and went to doggy day care when younger. He has not been with any other pets.
He is unneutered and in good health. However, two years ago he fell down the stairs and had a nasty head injury followed by a fit. He had a few fits in the following weeks and then one after 6 months and one again after another 6 months. The last fit was a year ago. I use wormwood to avoid worms and fleas and he has never had either. He reacted badly to worm/flea treatment as a puppy. He only had initial vaccinations as a puppy, none since.
He is registered with a vet. About 6 months ago he needed his anal glands expressed by the vet. Since then he has had sweet potato added to each meal and I have upped his exercise. No more problems thankfully. He eats grain free kibble with grain free wet food mixed in. As a puppy he had a sensitive stomach until I worked out that the grains were the problem. The dog weighs about 33kg.
He has a dense, short coat which seems to have miraculous self cleaning properties and needs nothing other than regular brushing. He does shed a lot. He is very good in the house and can be left for up to 5 hours as long as he is exercise before being left. He never damages anything and certainly never makes a mess. In the car he is barky when any dogs or people are anywhere near. In the house he barks loudly at all bypassers.
He does not have recall so needs space enclosed by a high fence. He did receive plenty training but became less obedient as he got older. For his safety and that of other dogs, it's best to assume this will not change.
I love him dearly but my circumstances are changing. However, I will only let him go if I am 100% certain he will be ok.
