Description
Unfortunately due to a change in circumstance we are looking to find a loving home for our 3 year old dog Ernie. We had a baby in Dec 25 and can no longer give him the time, attention or care he needs.
Ernie is a loving, loyal boy who enjoys long walks, playing chase and having lots of cuddles and affection. He walks nicely on a short line or long line (his recall isn't great!) and loves to sniff and explore new places. Ernie loves to interact with other dogs and is often gentle with them, waiting for the signal that it's ok to play. He loves to go on car rides and often 'accidentally' leans on the window button so he can stick his head out in the breeze! He loves to get cuddled up in bed and will often sleep between our legs or on top of our heads on our pillows!
Ernie does have some issues, which we sadly cannot cater to anymore now we have a baby.
He will not allow anyone to groom him or clip his nails - this has been a slow decline over the last year, he used to be absolutely fine being groomed. We have tried taking him to multiple groomers to no avail.
He has a bit of separation anxiety and will try to stay upstairs or outside if not already contained in the space he is to be left in when you are going out. When you return, he greets you as though you have left him forever, so we have tried not to leave him for longer than a few hours at a time. Again, he used to be fine being left for longer periods but this has been a decline over the last year.
He will nip to warn you if you are doing something he doesn't like, such as trying to bring him in or downstairs when you're going out. He has previously nipped groomers and we have done some soft muzzle training with him, but he will pull it off after a short time.
He likes to bark a lot, both when he's excited and when he's nervous. He also loves to bark at the sound of the Ring doorbell.
We really want to make sure Ernie finds a home that loves him as much as we do so please get in touch if you have any questions.
