Description
This is Steve, our Black/Dark Purple Axolotl.
We purchased Steve from an Aquarium in Brighton and have had him for around a year.
Although Steve’s name is misleading, he is in fact a woman - he acquired his name before his genitals.
He is a relaxed friend who comes and goes in and out of hiding places. When he comes out he makes himself known by standing on his hind legs against the glass, blowing bubbles, smiling, swimming around and he loves to stare!
Since having Steve, his diet has mainly consisted of Axolotl pellets and an occasional blood worm cube as a treat. He isn’t very picky and transfers to and from different foods very easily.
Steve is often described as a “Giant” due to his larger than average size. This is most likely the result of strong genetics and consistent, high quality care. He is currently measuring at 12.5 Inches from his head to the tip of his tail.
Although Steve is a very loved member of our family, we have decided that he is better off with a different family in the long run as we have recently learned we are expecting and worry that we may not be able to provide him with the love and attention he needs and deserves. It will be sad to see him go but it is what’s best for him.
My partner would like to confirm basic Axolotl care knowledge so please only enquire if you are happy to answer a few questions as Steve is our family so we want the very best for him.
