Description

Due to our immigration to Australia in 2027, we are now looking for a forever home for Winnie. Please be absolutely sure you want to rehome. We have had several people enquire only to change their minds. This decision is hard enough for us as a family. We’re being very careful and intentional about finding the right home for her, as her happiness and long-term wellbeing are our absolute priority. With that in mind, I want to be completely open about Winnie so you have the full picture. Winnie was born during the Covid period, which unfortunately meant she didn’t have the same opportunities for early socialisation as many dogs. As a result, she can struggle with social situations, particularly around other dogs. She’s always kept on a lead, and we’ve done gentle, ongoing training work around other dogs, which has helped, but she can still feel overwhelmed at times and may react by lashing out. This isn’t malicious behaviour, it’s more of an anxiety or fear response, and it’s best managed with calm handling, consistency, and clear boundaries. In terms of exercise, she enjoys daily walks and getting out for fresh air, but she doesn’t need (or want) long or strenuous walks. Shorter, regular outings suit her best. Diet-wise, she’s currently on a kibble-only diet following veterinary advice due to her allergies, and this has been working well for her. She’s regularly flea-treated, fully up to date with her vet checks, spayed, and micro-chipped. We completely understand that Winnie won’t be the right fit for everyone, which is why being upfront is so important to us. Our priority is finding a calm, stable, and loving home where she can be someone’s main focus and feel secure long term.
