Description

Beautiful Fox Red Cockerdor – Loving Forever Home Wanted ❤️ Location: West Yorkshire This is a very difficult and reluctant decision, but we’re looking for the perfect forever home for our beautiful boy, Ozzy. Ozzy is a fox-red male Cockerdor (Cocker Spaniel/Labrador cross), currently under a year old. He’s a gorgeous, affectionate and extremely friendly young dog with a big personality and lots of enthusiasm for life! He’s a typical energetic youngster who loves attention, interaction and play. He’s very sociable, loves being around people and has so much potential in the right home. Personality and temperament Ozzy is: * Extremely friendly, affectionate and sociable. * Playful, enthusiastic and full of character. * Very people-orientated and loves attention. * Generally good around other dogs and people when out walking, happily passing them without reacting. * Interested in other dogs and enjoys playing. * Not known to display aggression, reactivity or resource guarding. He’s still young and developing his manners and impulse control. He can be excitable, sometimes a little overenthusiastic and needs continued training, patience and guidance. He does pull on the lead, although this is something that can be worked on with consistent training. He can also become mischievous and chew things if he’s bored, so he needs supervision and appropriate stimulation when out of his crate. Home life and training Ozzy is: * Toilet trained and hasn’t had an accident for some time. * Crate trained and settles happily overnight. * Comfortable spending a couple of hours in his crate during the day. * Fully vaccinated and microchipped. * Up to date with flea and worming treatments. He isn’t neutered. He would benefit from an active home where someone has the time and inclination to provide regular exercise, play, mental stimulation and ongoing training. The home we’re looking for Ideally, we’d love to find Ozzy: * An active individual, couple or family with plenty of time to give him. * Someone who understands the needs of a young, energetic dog. * A home where he won’t be left alone for long periods. * Someone happy to continue working on his training and lead manners. * Potentially a home with another friendly, playful dog, although this isn’t essential. We’re not ruling out any particular type of household. The right people, environment and commitment are much more important than anything else. Why we’re considering rehoming This is genuinely a very difficult and reluctant decision, and one we haven’t taken lightly. We currently have an older dog who is six years old and suffers from arthritis. Although the two dogs get along and occasionally enjoy playing together, their energy levels and exercise requirements are very different. Ozzy is a young, energetic dog who needs plenty of exercise, stimulation, play and ongoing training. Our older dog, understandably, has much more limited mobility and needs shorter, gentler walks. We’ve found managing their individual needs increasingly difficult. Walking them together isn’t ideal because Ozzy needs more focused lead training and a different level of exercise, whereas walking them separately every day is difficult to fit around working full time and managing a busy household. At home, Ozzy is also keen to play and interact with our older dog, who generally prefers a quieter life and often wants his own space. Alongside some recent changes in our family circumstances, we’ve had to take an honest look at what we can realistically provide. We love Ozzy and don’t want his energy and enthusiasm to be something that has to be constantly managed or restricted. We feel he deserves a home where his needs can be met more easily, where he can enjoy the exercise and attention he thrives on, and where his personality can really shine. This isn’t about him being a bad dog or having behavioural problems. He’s a lovely, friendly young dog who simply needs an environment and lifestyle better suited to his age, energy and needs. Our priority is finding him the right home, however long that takes. Please read before enquiring We will not let Ozzy go to just anyone. This is a very reluctant decision, and finding the right home is far more important to us than finding a home quickly. If you’re genuinely interested, we’d appreciate you sending us a little information about yourself and your circumstances, including: * Who lives in your household and whether you have children. * Your home environment and whether you have a secure garden. * Your working arrangements and how long Ozzy would typically be left alone. * Any previous experience owning or training dogs. * Whether you currently have other pets. * What sort of lifestyle, exercise routine and daily attention you could offer him. * Why you feel Ozzy would be a good fit for your home. We’re more than happy to answer questions, provide further information and arrange a conversation with genuinely interested people. We appreciate that this is quite a detailed enquiry process, but Ozzy deserves the right home, the right people and a commitment for life. Please only get in touch if you’re serious about offering him a permanent, loving home. We want this to be his forever home, and we hope the right person or family is out there waiting for him. ❤️
