Chausie Kittens for sale in Sunbury-on-Thames, Surrey

1 Chausie Kittens for sale in Sunbury-on-Thames, Surrey

The Chausie was created in 1990 by crossing a Jungle Cat with a domestic cat. Breeders then focused on breeding a "wild" looking cat with a friendly, calm and affectionate nature. The breed was recognised as a full champion by TICA in 2013, but has yet to be recognised by the Governing Council of Cat Fancy (GCCF). The breed"s name "Chausie" is derived from the Latin name for the Jungle Cat, which is felis chaus. Since these large, handsome cats first appeared on the scene, they have found a following in many countries around the world, including the UK.

FAQs

Can Chausie cats make good pets?

Chausie cats can make excellent pets for those prepared to meet their unique needs. They are highly intelligent, active, and social, forming strong bonds with their owners and enjoying companionship from humans and other pets. They are playful, curious, and often enjoy learning tricks like fetch or walking on a leash. However, they require frequent interaction and mental stimulation as they do not like being left alone.

Are there any legal restrictions on owning a Chausie cat?

Legality of owning Chausie cats varies depending on location because they descend partly from wild jungle cats. In some areas, they are classified as wild animals, making it illegal to keep them as pets. Always check local laws and regulations before acquiring a Chausie.

How much does a Chausie cat cost?

Chausie cats are relatively expensive due to their rarity and breeding complexity, with prices typically ranging from about $2,000 to $10,000 depending on factors like generation, type, colour, and breeder. European breeders often start prices around $640 plus shipping, usually including pedigree and vaccinations.

Do Chausie cats enjoy cuddling?

Chausies are affectionate and loyal, enjoying close interaction and often following their owners around. While they are social and loving, they are also very active and curious, so they usually prefer interactive play and companionship over being passive lap cats.
